Ever since the final shot of Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith ended, fans have wondered if we would ever see another Star Wars film again.  After all, Lucas said he originally planned on 9 films but he settled for 6.  Lucas stated on several occasions that he was done with the franchise.  It’s safe to say that he wasn’t lying, as he has handed the reigns of Lucasfilm to Kathleen Kennedy and Disney. A new Star Wars was announced (make that several Star Wars films), and JJ Abrams (Star Trek, Mission Impossible 3) was announced as director.

After production wrapped on the seventh entry in the franchise, now titled Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we eagerly awaited a first trailer to get a glimpse of what Abrams will be  giving us next year.  A teaser trailer has now landed online and I can say that I’m hurting for December of 2015 to come as quickly as possible. From the looks of the teaser, Abrams has induced the film with the same kinetic energy that he did with Star Trek, a film that many stated felt like Star Wars.  That shot of the hooded figure brandishing that new lightsaber has already stirred up conversations, from people who think it looks awesome to the onse who think it’s not practical.  I for one don’t think the whole concept of lightsabers are practical but I love it anyway, so this new one is completely baddass to me.  I can see cosplayers already getting materials together for next years Comic Con.

The film stars Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow alongside original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.  Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be in theaters on December 18, 2015.

So what do you think Star War fans? Are you more or less exited for Star Wars after seeing the trailer?
