Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, The Grey) was in talks to helm the reboot of the Daredevil franchise for Fox.  But with Marvel set to get the rights back in October, the chances of seeing this film is very, very slim.  Carnahan’s pitch to the studio involved  two sizzle reels that spliced together clips from 70′s films, the Daredevil comics and the Ben Affleck film.  One is a PG-13 cut of the pitch while the other is a more hardcore NC-17 version.  The look and feel of his new film was to evoke that 70′s hardcore gangster feel to it.

For further proof that the proposed film is dead in the water, Carnahan tweeted the clips for the world to see.  The look he was going for seems intriguing enough, but for some reason I don’t think I would be much of a fan of the 70′s era.  Maybe the setting would have been in the present and feel of it would have been 70′s era gangster pictures, we will never know.  If that that were the case, I could see myself getting on board.

Many speculate that if Marvel gets the rights back that the film that the would deliver would be a watered down version of the character.  To them I would ask “Have you been watching the Marvel films lately?”  If it’s one thing that Marvel does well it is staying true to the comics.  So if they were to produce a Daredevil film, I would stake my life on them making a dark gritty film even if they make it part of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
