It’s official guys.  Star Wars episode 8 is now shooting.  Although Disney broke my heart a little when they pushed the release date from May all the way to December, seeing tangible evidence that they are making the film more than makes up for the heartbreak.  We get a short teaser that features Luke and Rey in the scene at the end of The Force Awakens and then ends with Director Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper) yelling cut.  This definitely warrants the amount of goosebumps that appeared on my skin.  Most of the cast from VII are returning, and they will be joined by newcomers, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and maybe Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who hasn’t been officially announced yet.  Looking at the teaser, does it mean that Episode 8 will pick up right where 7 left off?  Usually the next chapter of the saga is set years after the previous, so Episode 8 may just change that trend.  I do hope it is set at least a year after, because we would pick up with Rey and Kylo deep into their training, so when they meet again, they can have an awesome duel.

The film also stars, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.  Star Wars Episode VIII opens in theater on Dec. 15 2017.
