Hong Kong superstar and martial artist Donnie Yen may be appearing in Star Wars: Episode VIII, to be directed by Rian Johnson. According to Twitch Film, the Ip Man actor is heading off to London in August to start shooting Star Wars: Episode VIII.  But episode 8 won’t be his first appearance.  If rumors are true, Yen will first appear in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One which will be in theaters December 16, 2016, almost six month before Episode 8 hit theaters.

Yen joins a small rank of martial artist to be cast in the Star Wars franchise.  Stunt man turned actor Ray Park was cast as Darth Maul in episode one (although his voice was re-dubbed for the finished film).  The Raid 1 and 2 stars, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman will all appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in unspecified roles. Having the martial artist in Star Wars definitely ramps the action choreography.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18, 2015, and Star Wars: Episode VIII opens on May 26, 2017.
