The long awaited trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is finally here, and man it does not disappoint.  What I like about the sequel is its tonal shift from its predecessor.  The first was a period action adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones and The Rocketeer.  Now it has become an action political thriller, and I am digging it.  We get to see a bit of the dynamic between Cap (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson) which looks a little flirty.  We also get a peek at the Falcon(Anthony Mackee).  And of course the Pièce de résistance, the Winter Soldier himself (Sabastian Stan) catching that Shield.  Now that was Baddass.  Out of all the Phase 2 films, this one plays more like a sequel to the Avengers given that most of the supporting cast and primary setting (The Hellicarrier) will be returning.  Color me excited for this one.

The film also stars Cobie Smulders, Georges St-Pierre, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. JacksonCaptain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4, 2014.

Here’s the synopsis for Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
