The news of Tom Clancy’s passing was a sad one. He left a legacy both in the cinematic and video game world. He was the man behind the Jack Ryan novels which were adapted into successful films. And like James Bond, different actors of played the role of Ryan. Harrison Ford played him twice, Alec Baldwin once, and the new Batman himself, Ben Affleck dabbled in the role as well. Now Chris Pine is taking on the role with Kenneth Branagh directing and acting as the film’s antagonist in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. As you can expect with a film being updated for modern cinema, everything looks bigger and fancier. Branagh got his action feet wet directing the first Thor. Now he looks to out-do himself with this latest outing.
The film also stars Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, David Paymer, and Peter Andersson. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opens in theaters on December 25.
