Ghost in the Shell, one of the most highly anticipated and highly controversial films is set to debut next year spring.  Much has been made of it’s alleged whitewashing with the casting of Scarlett Johansson as Major Kusanagi, a Japanese character.  Earlier, a few snippets of the film went online to give a fans a glimpse of the visual tone of the film.  It help to ease some fears, but there were still others who did not get enough to forgive the casting.  Now a full trailer has dropped online, and I must say, if you aren’t anticipating greatness from this movie, it has no chance winning you over no matter what they showed.  This film looks like a revved up Blade Runner.  I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.  The trailer gives a hint of the story, as well as a very quick glimpse of the villain Kuze (Michael Pitt).  Even though I wasn’t a fan of director Rupert Sander’s last film Snow White and the Huntsman, I am still optimistic about Ghost in the Shell.

Ghost in the Shell arrives in theater March 31, 2017.

Here’s the official synopsis for Ghost in the Shell:

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
