After Marvel’s The Avengers became a smash hit at the box office, the credit was given to Joss Wheddon by fans and critics alike for its success.  The big question remained with Marvel going into the Phase 2 initiative, was if Wheddon would return for the sequel.  Considering the films that Marvel will released within the next 2 years, we most likely won’t see the Avengers 2 no earlier than 2015.  So we considered that plenty of time for Wheddon to decide if he was coming back or not.  Fortunately we don’t have to wait that long as Variety has reported that he has signed on to write and direct the sequel.  Along with The Avengers 2, Wheddon will also develop a television show which exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for ABC.

This news is music to our fanboy ears in that not only do we get Wheddon for the next film but we get him back to television, the place that made us fans of him in the first place.  I’m sure speculation will begin as to what type of TV show it will be and if it is an existing super hero that we are familiar with.  It was reported earlier that Disney/Marvel were developing a drama series that existing in the same universe as The Avengers.  It seems that this may have been the Wheddon developed TV show that we slated to get.

Well its save to say the Disney/Marvel is firing on all cylinders with there Phase 2 program that is appeasing us fans all around
