The character of Q has been a staple of the Bond film for many years with actors like Peter Burton, Desmond Llewelyn and John Cleese taking on the role.  Q basically designs all the nifty gadget that James Bond uses during his missions.  Since the reboot with Daniel Craig, Q has been missing for two films until now.

The 23rd Bond film Skyfall will feature actor Ben Whishaw taking on the role of the inventor.  He looks younger than the previous Q’s so I’m curious to see how his dynamic with Craig’s Bond will play out.

In a joint statement from producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, they had this to say Whishaw’s casting: “It’s a real thrill to confirm the return of Q in Skyfall, played by the enormously talented Ben Whishaw. We are delighted to have this beloved character back in the series.”

The film also stars Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph FiennesSkyfall opens in theaters on November 9th.
