Cloud Atlas is the ambitious film from the Wachowski Siblings and Tom Tykwer. Based on David Mitchell’s best-selling 2004 novel, the story spans across timelines ranging from the past to the far future with actors playing multiple roles in each timeline. The film have been getting rave reviews at the Toronto Film Festival, and Warner Bros. have rumored to be so impressed that the Wachowskis are front runners for the Justice League film.
Further prove that the WB stands behind this film is that come this October, we will be able to view this film in IMAX. According to THR, the film will be digitally re-mastered and released in select North American Imax theatres.
“Trailblazing filmmakers Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis understand how to transport moviegoers through ground-breaking imagery and scale,” Greg Foster, chairman and president of Imax Filmed Entertainment as he brings the epic tale to his giant screens.
I prefer films that were actually shot with the IMAX cameras as opposed to converted. Very rarely do the converted versions fill the entire enormous screen. So I probably will be sticking to the regular release for this one.
The film stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Xun Zhou, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant. Cloud Atlas opens in theaters on October 26.
