Alan Silvestri is one of my favorite composers.  He has created memorable scores for films like The Back to the Future Trilogy and Predator.  He did the music for this year’s Captain America for Marvel and will return to score Marvel’s The Avengers.  Marvel says Silvestri is already hard at work on the film.

“This is actually a very unique experience [for me],” said Silvestri. “I’ve worked on films where there have been a number of stars and certainly worked on films where there have been characters of equal weight in terms of their level of importance and profile in the film, but this one is somewhat extreme in that regard because each of these characters has their own world and it’s a very different situation.”

He also added,  “It’s always an interesting process, of confronting the film and having a chance to live with it a bit and internalize it a little bit. I am just at the beginning stages of all of that right now and it’s feeling very good. I am looking forward to seeing the evolution of this film. Joss Whedon has really done something magnificent and I think everyone who loves Marvel and their films will especially enjoy this one.”

I’m looking forward to hearing his musical interpretation of The Avengers when it hits theaters May 4 2012.
